Pete Jordan (1966) was born and raised in San Francisco, California. For more than ten years, he roamed around America, working as a dishwasher. This experience he described in his memoir Dishwasher: One Man's Quest to Wash Dishes in All Fifty States (HarperPerrennial, 2007).

In 2002 Pete moved to Amsterdam, where he became fascinated by the culture and history of this city of cyclists. This is the basis for his second book: In the City of Bikes: The Story of the Amsterdam Cyclist (Harper Perennial, 2013).

Pete lives with his son in Amsterdam and regularly gives cycling tours through the city in which he explains the Dutch capital's cycling culture and history to both tourists and locals alike.
